Is the Miz ready to be the top guy?

Just thinking about this. The Miz still has bragging rights. He beat John Cena in the Main Event at Wrestlemania. The Miz has been out of our sights for awhile; doing movies, hosting tv shows, and doing media appearances. I honestly am not the biggest Miz fan but thought he had something going for him (sorta found him funny on the mic). Im pretty sure I read something on the home page over a year or two ago saying Miz was going to get his shot again one day. That they have "Major Plans" in store. Hes still young, great figurehead for the company, and has a small outside wwe following.

Could the Miz be this relevant again? The the Miz worthy enough right now with the talent they currently have? Thoughts?

UFC Fight Night

If anyone is watching it discuss here.

NXT Takeover

NXT Takeover was a special WWE NXT event that took place on May 29, 2014. It was the second of this type of event following NXT Arrival on February 27, 2014. If you have not seen this show already, I recommend it (as well as NXT Arrival!) as it was a great showcase of talent for the future stars of WWE. Here are the matches from this show:

1. Camacho VS Adam Rose in a singles match

2. The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) VS El Local and Kalisto in a tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championship

3. Sami Zayn VS Tyler Breeze in a singles match to determine the number one contender to the NXT Championship

4. Charlotte (with Ric Flair) VS Natalya (with Bret Hart) in a singles match for the NXT Women's Championship

5. Tyson Kidd VS Adrian Neville in a singles match for the NXT Championship

I really enjoyed this event, especially the title matches. My favorite was the NXT Championship main event. I really liked in particular the inclusion of Flair and Hart in the corners of Charlotte and Natalya respectively in the divas match, that gave the match an even bigger feel. Kidd VS Neville as well as Zayn VS Breeze stole the show. My least favorite match was probably Camacho VS Rose. Every other match was just better, but that's more on Camacho than on Rose. Camacho sucks. Despite that, highly enjoyable show. I can't wait for the next one of these events!

What are your thoughts on this show, did you like it? Why or why not?

Which match was your favorite, what about your least favorite? Why?

Summerslam 1994: A Retrospective Look

This summer I'll be looking back on each of the previous Summerslam events, one by one. Every few days I will submit a new topic until we reach 2014's edition of the 2nd biggest brand in WWE.

This thread will be for discussing.... Summerslam 1994!

Summerslam 1994 took place on August 29, 1994. It was held at United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Here are the results of the matches from this show:

0. Adam Bomb defeated Kwang in a singles match

1. Irwin R. Schyster and Bam Bam Bigelow (with Ted DiBiase) defeated The Headshrinkers (Fatu and Samu) (with Afa and Lou Albano) by disqualification in a tag team match (07:20)

2. Alundra Blayze (c) defeated Bull Nakano (with Luna Vachon) in a singles match for the WWF Women's Championship (08:10)

3. Razor Ramon (with Walter Payton) defeated Diesel (c) (with Shawn Michaels) in a singles match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship (15:03)

4. Tatanka defeated Lex Luger in a singles match (06:02)

5. Jeff Jarrett defeated Mabel (with Oscar) in a singles match (05:45)

6. Bret Hart (c) defeated Owen Hart in a Steel Cage match for the WWF Championship (32:22)

7. The Undertaker [Mark Calaway] (with Paul Bearer) defeated The Undertaker [Brian Lee] (with Ted DiBiase) in a singles match (08:57)

Now, here are some discussion questions concerning the event:

What was your favorite match on this show, and why did you like it the most? What about the worst match of this show, why did you like it the least?

If you could change a few things about Summerslam 1994, what would it be and why?

You may only use wrestlers who were available at the roster at that time or make changes that could have realistically taken place in August 1994. Please keep in mind the situations going into the show such as who could actually have been pushed into a title match, or what songs existed back then if you wanted to change the show's theme music, and so forth.

You may only discuss Summerslam 1994 in this thread. The remaining Summerslam events will be getting their own retrospective threads, any posts regarding other events will be considered spam and you risk getting an infraction.

Do the new characters that have been created have longevity?

First things first, I do not mean the wrestlers portraying these characters I mean the characters in general. How much longevity do these characters have?

Alexander Rusev - Anti - American, pro Russia. We see these short-lived characters every 10 years or so. Once America gets bored with the Putin hate, then Rusev disappears. How does he recover?

Adam Rose - I hate this gimmick as it is, but, how long can he keep portraying a party boy? I guess he can recover by saying he has sobered up, and hates the fun life, turning into a Steven Richards "Right To Censor" type gimmick.

Bo Dallas - I am a "Bo-liever" I just don't bolieve that this gimmick can go on forever, and I don't see him going any further past this gimmick, based on his brief run in the big leagues last year.

Wyatt Family - How long can this cult gimmick go on? I hope forever, but it seems these days that Bray is just saying the same thing over and over about Cena. What happens to Bray when the fans go quiet?

My question is obviously how long can these gimmicks last? Also, what becomes of the superstars portraying these characters when it is time to pull the plug?

Prestige for Mid-Card Belts?

Seems that in recent weeks there has been an "elevation" in how the IC and US Belts have been discussed. On one hand you have the belts being contended for more regularly, and just last night you had Cole asking Heyman about which mid-card belt had more prestige (nice to refer to them as having any prestige at all), we have seen more vignettes about the history of the belts (mostly the IC) and last night Kofi had his pre-match graphic discussing how he beat Cesaro for the US belt last year and how he would use his match against him Friday to start his journey back to the US Title (Haven't seen anyone actually come out and say they have desired either of these in that way in a while).

All that being said, do you think this is an actual trend that will continue where more import is placed on these belts (and hopefully the tag belts as well), especially considering the Main Event belts are unified. Or, do you think this is just another blip on the radar and they will go back to being the afterthought they have been through recent history?

Payback vs. Game of Thrones

So who is going to be watching Payback tonight and who is going to be watching "The Mountain vs. The Viper"??

I'll definitely be watching Game of Thrones. That card is terrible. The most interesting one is Big E/Rusev, and we all know how that's ending.

So what will you be watching?
