If you are thinking of embarking on the purchase of a mobile phone and all that entails, I have a theory that might make it less expensive to use than you think. Assuming you have a phone, new or second hand makes no difference.
Minutes, texts and data are thrown at you by the bucketful.
Data is the most expensive, but if you turn OFF your data allowance and connect by wifi when at home, there are ample opportunities to use data via wifi when you are out and about. Were you to install wifimapper or something similar, when you are out, you phone will show you where the nearest free connection is. So, although your data is off, it doesn't mean you are shut out of the internet.
Minutes are something that look impressive, but I am of the opinion that 500 can be more than enough.
Texts equally are offered freely, but you needn't use any if you box clever. Were you to install Messenger for example, you can use that without spending a penny.
So a low cost SIM only card and second hand phone might just get the show on the road.
This is only my theory and am open to anyone that cares to tell me if and where I'm going wrong, but it's one that I use and thus far.................mind you, the only exception to this is that I have a smart phone, the cheapest on the market at £39.
