Info req on fibre optic Please.
I have my broadband and home phone with EE been with the company since it was freeserve then wanadoo and orange now EE.
Speed at the moment is okay on average it's around 15Mbps.
Had a phone call from them a few days ago asking me if I would like to upgrade to the fibre optic now in your area.I have noticed over the last months the open reach have been laying a lot of new cables around the town where I live.
I live about half a mile from the telephone exchange and the local BT box on the pavements is two doors away from my home,It's all copper wire to box and to my property as you all know.
My question is if I do decide to take up this offer,How will I get fibre optic from the new fibre optic cables that they have layed in all the main roads to my BT socket inside my front door.
If the fibre optic cables are only coming to the BT box on the pavement will that the existing copper wire now coming from that box to my home be changed to fibre optic cable.As there is a pal of mine had the change over last week and the BT engineer came to his house and just fitted a new router no change in the existing copper wire.:confused:
Can anyone please put my mind on the correct track on how does this fibre optic system really work.:confused:
