Google Chrome has stopped working

Yesterday, I began getting the "Google Chrome has stopped working" message every time I tried to open it. I uninstalled and re-installed a bunch of times and it didn't make a difference (the latest version on the website). This was on my WIN 8.1 pc. I just tried opening Chrome on my WIN 10 pc and got the exact same message. I read that on September 1 a big upgrade was to be pushed out to dramatically increase the speed. I've used Chrome both before and after that date with no problem. Sure, I get the Google "Chrome has stopped working" message occasionally, but everybody does. I could see having an issue on 1 pc, but both at the same time? To much of a coincidence. Have others had issues since the automatic update? How can I revert to the old version?
