I'm quite partial to my tablet. I certainly wouldn't want some scrote "borrowing" it - or worse selling it on.
That's what happened next door ... Someone found another way into the conservatory ... nicked a packet of fags, a 3 year old laptop and a Hudl (1).
It cost more to repair the house than the kit was worth.
Anyhow .... I've been looking at android device manager since the event ...
It's a simple interface ... you can ring, lock or wipe the device.
We sat down the morning they discovered the break-in and pressed a few buttons.
the Hudl hasn't been used since it was nicked. .... until today.
I logged in and waited while the spinning thingy stopped spinning ... and instead of "not found" ... the message was "Factory reset" ...
I refreshed the screen ... and "not found" appeared again ....
Then the doorbell went - and a very flustered neighbour was standing there waving a new Hudl2.
Seems the insurance have paid up and he'd been down to tesco ... sat down with the new tablet ... entered all his details ... the screen flashed some obscene message at him ... and wiped itself!!!
I sat him down, mashed a pot of tea and we went through the setup again ... the Hudl (re) installed all his apps, appointments, photos etc etc.
LOL
... I've logged in again on DM and now the screen shows 2 devices ... the old and the new ... we sent off another set of wipe commands to the old machine.. :D
It's nice to know that the system sort of works ... if they ever switch on ... it will at least wipe the slate - and should report back on where it is..
