Anybody see 'Rip off Britain' this morning.
A poor couple transferred £50,000 from their ISA savings in the sure belief they were talking to their bank's fraud department. ... Silly beggars I suppose you might say, but when you can see it's your bank calling and are told that somebody is as we speak trying to get into your account ... well it makes you think.
The phone number being displayed on their caller display was the same number as on their bank card. They were told that somebody had got into their account and was attempting to withdraw money and they needed to quickly .... well you know the rest. .....
Yes same old story but with a new twist, the difference now is that the rogues have software which is easily downloadable on the net that will display whatever number they want it to on your caller display and also be recorded when you dial 1471.
The software apps are even available on Google Play.
