no advisor icon

Hi,

Having got my desktop PC running W10, I want to see if my Sony Laptop will take the upgrade.

I have no icon re the advisor, and know that I did ask about this in June. The Links I have from that post show that I need th icon to start anything off.

Is this still true?

What I want to do is run something that will tell me if the Sony will take the upgrade even though I don't have the taskbar icon.

Everything I try seems to show that I need the upgrade icon.
