At WrestleMania XXX, it was pretty obvious that WWE went through high lengths to make sure all of their superstars were involved; what with having the 31 Man Battle Royal and the Divas Invitational. Now, you get two problems with matches like these:
ONE, with all those bodies in one ring with not much proper communication, you're almost bound to witness a clusterfuck of a match. Admittedly, both matches were surprisingly good, but they weren't 100% pretty. TWO, which is the core of this thread, not everybody deserves to be on the card. I get that they created the battle royal to cater to stars like Mark Henry and Dolph Ziggler and The Miz who they would want on the card, but don't have anything to do story wise, but that also paved the way for guys like Brad Maddox or Great Khali who had no business being in a match at WrestleMania. Now, I'm not trying to knock anything against the ppv for this. Hell, it's one of my top 5 favorite Manias at the moment, but, the way I see it, if they weren't relevant before WrestleMania, they won't be relevant during it. Sure, it's cool to be apart of the big show, but I think it should be a kind of exclusive thing for the wrestlers that proved to be the biggest stars of the year. At least match wise. For someone like Eva Marie or Zack Ryder or 3MB, is it really worth going all out to make up a battle royal or create an invitational if these superstars that have been irrelevant for the better part of the year (with the exception of Eva Marie, whose relevant more due to Total Divas and not her wrestling) to job at the show of shows if the only satisfaction for them is "Hey, I'm at WrestleMania!" They could have easily put these guys in a segment in the middle of the show and they would have gotten more of a WrestleMania moment there than they would have in a match where they got thrown over the top rope after a couple minutes.
Maybe I'm being a little harsh (and maybe a little incoherent, considering it's 2:30am and I'm really tired) but what I'm getting at is that: Do you think every superstar on the roster should be shoehorned into being in a match at WrestleMania as a way to pat them on the back for being a good worker for a year or should that honor be reserved for the more relevant stars on the roster?
