WrestleMania XVII. WrestleMania 17. Can you imagine anyone these day absolutely dominating a poster the way SCSA and The Rock did? I haven's seen a WM poster better than this one since.
Besides that, this was the first WrestleMania following the death of WCW. We get Taker/HHH, TLC II, & Austin/Rock with the ending that sealed the deal. AUSTIN TURNED "HEEL." Whatever man, we just had almost an entire calendar year of Austin absence and you think turning him heel would work?
Now, Happy Days was a great show. But even the greats fall. As did Happy Days, the WWF jumped the shark. Ironically, using their own version of the Fonze (SCSA).
Well, my friends. This product hasn't been the same since.
And why is that? Because no one can replace those two men. NO ONE.
Since 2001, guys like Hogan, Flair, UT, Cena, HHH, HBK, The Hardy's, all the way on down to The Miz have been entertaining to the best of their abilities, and still not one positive consensus opinion about one of them.
If you ask me, these two left when the going got rough. And were all the better for it.
As for the current product, it is as good as it can possibly be. Or at least that is what I have to believe, because I can think of nothing better. Well actually...
