Do Stephen A. Smith's words have any truth to them?

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm not condoning or agreeing with what he said. For those out of the loop-of which I'm sure there are few- Smith is a Sportscaster on ESPN's First Take, their morning talk show that focuses on all the happenings in sports in the previous day. They were disussing the suspension of Ray Rice,-running back for the Baltimore Ravens-who was arrested and suspended by the NFL for two games for battery of his now-wife, then his fiancee. Rice struck Janay Palmer-nee-Rice so hard in an elevator in Atlantic City this past February that she fell, unconscious. Security footage shows Rice dragging Palmer, still unconscious, from the elevator. Rice plead not guilty but an agreement was reached between Rice's lawyers and prosecution that had him enter into a pre-trial intervention program that equaled community service, a heavy fine, probation, and anger management counseling.

So after the NFL announced the suspension, it was one of the headline topics on First Take. Rice's two day suspension and sentencing were discussed, and it was during this discussion where Smith made the following comments:

Quote:

"Let's make sure we don't do anything to provoke wrong action ... we got to also make sure that you can do your part to do whatever you can do to make, to try to make sure it doesn't happen again."

The "we" Smith was referencing was the female, the one who was-and in a relationship, typically is assaulted. And I'm not here to defend Smith's comments, they're egregious. There is no excuse or rationale for domestic violence of any kind.

But I also think it's important for people to identify triggers, in other words, things in life that lead to anger or loss of control. It's important for our loved ones to know those triggers, to help said aggressor keep their anger under control.

I watched the TV mini-series Fargo in the late spring/early summer, and the first episode featured a character named Lester Nygard-played by the brilliant Martin Freeman-who was a pathetic individual. His wife constantly told him how pathetic he was, how he couldn't satisfy her, and how she should have married his brother instead. The show's early moments focused on her verbal abuse of him, telling him how he wasn't a real man. About 30 minutes into the show he was confronted by a high school classmate as he was walking to work, a man who had tormented him in high school. Nothing changed since then, and the short of it was that Lester left the confrontation with a broken nose. When Lester left the hospital and returned home, his wife went on a tirade of how he didn't stick up for himself, deserved the broken nose, and needed to fix the washing machine.

Lester worked on it for some time, and thought he got it to work. He called his wife down to show her, but when she tried it, it still didn't work. So she continued to belittle him, focusing again on his manhood. He picked up a hammer and looked at her with anger...and she laughed. She told him he wasn't man enough to hit her...until he did. He struck her in the head and did so over and over until she was beyond dead.

And a small part of me was happy for Lester, and glad he shut her up.

Let's face it, in the world we live in, if a man spoke to another man the way Lester's wife belittled him on a day to day basis, we as people would likely cheer. "Finally, the man grew a pair", or "I would have kicked his ass a long time ago." It's not excusing it, per se, it's showing understanding as to why the man acted as he did. But change the gender, and regardless of what is said or done, we shake our heads and point fingers at the terrible behavior and conduct of the man.

The only thing that is different is the gender. I've never hit my wife, but there have been times I've been trying to avoid an argument with her and have been unsuccessful, going from room to room in my house, only for her to follow me. This has gone on for as much as an hour at some points, and finally I've responded verbally with words I'm not proud of. These situations happen maybe once every three months, but I can't imagine what my reaction would be if they happened, say, every 3 days. It would be very hard to deal with.

This isn't to excuse Smith's words, it's almost as if he was justifying what Rice did. I don't know all the details, such as was alcohol involved, had she been yelling at him, or if she was questioning his manhood. None of those make what Rice did right.

But, using Smith's words, could she have done things "to avoid provoking" Rice's "wrong actions"?

Is there any truth to be found in Smith's words?

Should women 'watch their words' so as not to provoke physical violence from men?

Was Smith's suspension of one week enough? Too harsh?

Please remember, these are just questions and comments meant to provoke thought, they don't reflect my opinions on the matter. But any other thoughts or discussion here are welcome and encouraged.

TNA Wrestling and DJ Z (Zema Ion) Announce New Multi-Year Deal

Quote:

Just announced by Executive Vice President John Gaburick, TNA Wrestling is happy to announce the re-signing of DJ Z! The former X-Division Champion and incredible talent, both in and outside of the ring, signed a new multi-year deal effective immediately!

I couldn't stand this guy when he first came into the company, but even I have been impressed with how well he's found his niche with the Bro Mans, and as a go-to heel in the X Division. Considering he's still just 27, I'm not sure how anyone could consider this a bad extension, especially in the wake of all the negativity surrounding the company right now with the Spike/TV deal stuff going on.

WWE title: how do you solve the Brock problem post Summerslam?

At this time, all speculations and rumors indicate that Brock Lesnar will win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Summerslam from Cena. Whether it'll happen or not is anybody's guess, but it makes the most sense at this time. However, if it happens, the biggest problem is how do you book Brock and the title after it. It seems that they are trying to build a killer card for NOC (when most WWE Network renewals are due, including mine). Which also points towards a Brock-Cena rematch. Now if Brock wins the title at Summerslam and drops it to Cena at NOC, it'll be a really pointless reign with no big payoff whatsoever, especially considering how Brock has been built up over the last year and a half. If he keeps the title and stops appearing with him, it'll leave WWE with no World title for a long stretch. So how can this be solved?

What follows from here on is pure speculation based on if Brock wins at Summerslam, so take it for what it's worth. After his win at Summerslam, Brock can turn into a real thorn in HHH's flesh. He's not someone who should be Authority's puppet anyway, so he can continue doing whatever he wants to do without caring what HHH wants him to do. This can irk HHH to no ends. Come NOC, after a really grueling battle and may be a little help from Paul Heyman, Brock retains his title. Just then, Rollins comes out and cashes in his MITB contract and wins the title! The next night Brock can be furious about how HHH screwed him and 'quits' WWE wih Paul Heyman. Then he can come back whenever he wants to next year for road to Wrestlemania.

If this goes down, Brock stock as a strong champion and the Beast incarnate remains intact. Cena will not take any damage from losing to Brock twice in a row (after all there is no shame in losing to the man who ended the streak!). WWE will have a fresh Authority champion in Rollins. Ambrose can literally then go for the title instead of just Rollins and his briefcase that can help WWE write a program post NOC. Reigns is already there against Authority, so he's there in the picture.

So what do you people think? Is this viable? Or do you see some other way of booking the title/Brock post Summerslam?

Of course this is pure speculation as there are no guarantees in WWE. Do state your opinions. And yes, no spams please.

CM Punk WrestleMania Rewind- Revisionist History

I just finished watching the WrestleMania Rewind about CM Punk winning his Money in the Bank ladder matches. I think it was the worst WM Rewind episode I've seen so far. It's filled with so much bullshit.

First let me get out of the way how awful the structure was. The interviews constantly switch from kayfabe-to-realism. You have CM Punk talking about how they told him one day they were going to have Randy attack him later for an angle to strip him of the title and they jump to Wade Barrett talking about how hard it is to win a hardcore match with so many competitors when the odds are stacked against you. These interviews weren't pieced together in an intelligent way.

You also had people like Natalya commenting about CM Punk's debut. Why the hell is Natalya commenting on CM Punk's debut when she didn't debut herself until 2 years later? And speaking of Wade Barrett, why is he talking about MitB if he's never even been in one, plus he has hardly any history with CM Punk whatsoever? The choices they made for these interviews were mind-boggling.

But anyway, here's my main complaint: The Revisionist History.

They talked about the Unforgiven angle with Randy Orton and CM Punk. CM Punk walks into the building, they tell him he won't be on the PPV, and he gets pissed. Michael Hayes then mentions that CM Punk had an injured elbow so they were going to have him take time off, and that a lot of people in the company were happy he was injured so they can take the title off him. CM Punk then mentions that he had an injury but he wanted to "go out swinging".

But here's the thing: CM PUNK WAS NEVER INJURED. I distinctly remembering him having his World title rematch the next week in a Steel Cage. And then starting his feud with Legacy with a match right after. And he worked every single week for years until his actual elbow injury in 2010. In fact, I think the bit about CM Punk saying how he was injured and he wanted to go out swinging was footage taken out of context about that injury in 2010.

I have no idea why they felt they needed to add that fake injury into the narrative. They already established that management hated him and wanted to take the title off him. They didn't need to say he was injured and that's why he didn't compete in the match that night. But they made it seem like they had no choice but to take Punk out of the match-- when in reality, it was just a product of horrible writing.

That wasn't the only revisionist history in the documentary. They also talked about how WM24 was Punk's first Money in the Bank ladder match, when he had competed at WM23. They kept talking about how he worked "2 consecutive ladder matches" as if it was such a big deal. Mention the fact he worked 3 consecutive ladder matches!! It's a bigger deal!!

This was the first time I sat down to watch a network show in about 2 months, and I think it's going to be the last for a while. I am very unimpressed with what I've seen so far, and if they're going to start changing the facts and presenting us with edited revisionist history, there is no point in watching these documentaries at all.

How will Alberto Del Rio be remembered?

Two-time WWE Champion

Two-time World Heavyweight Champion

2011 Royal Rumble winner

2011 Money in the Bank winner

Multiple pay-per-views, Raws and Smackdowns headlined

On paper it's a better resume than that of Hall of Famers like Hennig, Steamboat and Guerrero, but he never truly connected with the fans. There were sporadic periods when he drew decent heat (e.g. for a couple months after his babyface turn, his heel turn on Ziggler months later), but more often that not, his strong in-ring performances and passable mic work have met with apathy. Del Rio has a good look and is an exceptional athlete, but that's rarely been enough to win over the fans.

Personally I think Del Rio has a lot of talent, but lacks the charisma to get his character over. He could possibly be saved by a different gimmick, but WWE clearly aren't going to budge on that. So he'll probably live and die in WWE as the "Mexican Aristocrat", a guy few really cared about. At the risk of being contentious, I argue that he would have at least had a strong internet following, had he been a foot shorter and less handsome.

How do you think fans will look back on his run - which is reportedly coming to an end - years from now?

We Are Gathered Here Today In Praise Of Me

Four years ago, I took over as administrator of these fine forums.

Feel free to use this thread to offer any gifts, well wishes, tokens of affection, firstborn children, memories or thoughts on both my tenure as leader and my time on the Forums as a whole.

Presents over there on the table. Cookies and carrot juice served at 9.

It's X-Division Week!

This Thursday and Friday while the wrestling media world waxes poetic about the future of TNA on SpikeTV and even the future of the company itself, TNA brings to the world a double feature of its signature division.

First- tomorrow night Impact Wrestling presents Destination-X from the sold out Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center, headlined by a tag team dream match and Austin Aries' attempt to cash in on "Option-C" for the second time when he faces Bobby Lashley for the World Title.

And if that wasn't enough, the following night, Friday August 1, TNA will debut the 2014 version of One Night Only: Xtravaganza.

Here is TNA's chance to bring us a real #August1Warning! After specualtion last year that Low Ki could be the man behind the vignettes, he has a chance to instead make August 1, 2014 his night to shine as he returns to compete for an X-Division title shot alongside the likes of Chris Sabin, Manik, Kenny King, Trent Baretta, Rubix, Sonjay Dutt, Petey Williams, Tigre Uno and others. Also the card will bring fans another dream tag match as The Wolves and Bad Influence compete in a ladder match for $25,000, as well as a two out of three falls encounter between Aries and Sanada.

This set of shows falling back-to-back couldn't come at a better time for TNA. They need to showcase what it is that makes the brand stand out, and nothing can do that better than putting the X-Division in the forefront.

What are you looking forward to from this "x-fest" we are being treated too? Which night intrigues you more? Which matches are you most hyped to tune in for?

As for myself I love that Low Ki has returned and will be prominently featured on both shows, and I can't wait for both Wolves matches as Eddie and Davey show why they're the best tag team in the business that's working full time on American soil, and they have two amazing sets of opponents to demonstrate that against.

The Definitive Champions

So this is something I've always liked to ponder. Every belt has passed through many hands and some held it for longer times than others or had more memorable reigns than others.

But if you had to pick a single person as "THE" champion for a belt, who would you pick?

For example, I've long been interested in the U.S. Championship. DDP was my favorite WCW guy back in the day and he was mostly known for having it. Of course I won't say he's the definitive US Champ as I've since learned there were so many greats who wore it. I've read people here and there who say Luger was the best US Champ but I dunno.

That's the point of this topic for me - to learn which title reigns older and wiser wrestling fans than myself think of as the best or more memorable.

You can do one belt or five or however many you want.

TNA Wrestling Signs American War Hero Chris Melendez to Multi-Year Agreement

Quote:

TNA Wrestling is happy to announce the signing of a true American hero! Chris Melendez is a former Army Sergeant, who served his country in Afghanistan and was awarded a Purple Heart. Because of injuries suffered in combat, the brave soldier returned home a single leg amputee. Melendez, a member of the Wounded Warrior Project, had another dream to realize when he returned home. He dreamed of becoming a pro wrestler.

Quote:

In 2012, Melendez entered Team 3D Academy of Professional Wrestling in Florida where he trained day-in and day-out under the tutelage of Bully Ray and Devon. Now, TNA Wrestling can announce the signing of Chris Melendez to a multi-year contract.

Still known in the locker room as “Sarge”, Melendez is set to make his debut for the company during the August 5-7 tapings at New York City’s legendary Manhattan Center.

I know absolutely nothing about this guy, but I'll say this much — he's certainly got a great look and an even better story that creative should be able to sell with ease. That's not to say the character will take off, but you can go a long way with a little when you're talking about real-life heroes.

Great American Bash '88

JCP's booking of Flair/Luger at the '88 Bash was TERRIBLE. In an era when the WWF always sent the fans home happy, Crockett couldn't afford to constantly anger his fan base. I'm not saying Luger winning the title would have saved JCP, but it wouldn't have angered so many people.

I would have had Luger beat Flair for the NWA Title at the Bash, then drop it back to Flair at Starrcade '88.

Summerslam 2012: A Retrospective Look

This summer I'll be looking back on each of the previous Summerslam events, one by one. Every few days I will submit a new topic until we reach 2014's edition of the 2nd biggest brand in WWE.

This thread will be for discussing.... Summerslam 2012!

Summerslam 2012 took place on August 19, 2012. It was held at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Here are the results of the matches from this show:

0. Antonio Cesaro (with Aksana) defeated Santino Marella (c) in a singles match for the WWE United States Championship (05:08)

1. Chris Jericho defeated Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guerrero) by submission in a singles match (13:05)

2. Daniel Bryan defeated Kane in a singles match (08:02)

3. The Miz (c) defeated Rey Mysterio in a singles match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship (09:09)

4. Sheamus (c) defeated Alberto Del Rio (with Ricardo Rodriguez) in a singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship (11:22)

5. R-Truth and Kofi Kingston (c) defeated The Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil and Darren Young) in a tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship (07:07)

6. CM Punk (c) defeated John Cena and Big Show in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship (12:34)

7. Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) defeated Triple H by submission in a No Disqualification match (18:45)

Now, here are some discussion questions concerning the event:

What was your favorite match on this show, and why did you like it the most? What about the worst match of this show, why did you like it the least?

If you could change a few things about Summerslam 2012, what would it be and why?

You may only use wrestlers who were available at the roster at that time or make changes that could have realistically taken place in August 2012. Please keep in mind the situations going into the show such as who could actually have been pushed into a title match, or what songs existed back then if you wanted to change the show's theme music, and so forth.

You may only discuss Summerslam 2012 in this thread. The remaining Summerslam events will be getting their own retrospective threads, any posts regarding other events will be considered spam and you risk getting an infraction.

Discuss! :)

The "Super-Athlete" Should Be US Champ

Over the past few months, something somewhat unexpected has come about. We've seen an extremely dated angle of USA vs. Russia revived and is actually gotten over. While the real world controversy of what's been going on with Russia and Ukraine has fueled the angle, to the discomfort of some for some strange reason, I think WWE should take advantage of the situation, at least to some degree.

For the first time since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia is being portrayed by various news outlets around the world as the big, bad boogeyman to some degree. The propaganda isn't running wild as it did during the decades of the Cold War, but there's enough turmoil going on that WWE could further build heat for Rusev by having him win the WWE United States Championship. Sheamus has been out of action for a little because, reportedly, of a very, very severe case of the flu and I just think this could be an opportunity for WWE to pounce on.

Summer clean

Ricardo is outttttttta here.

Just Hero's Only Thread

is unjust... I wanted death...

Will GFW or any other be able to get a tv

I fear with spike getting rid of tna and tna probably going away, that the market will shrink and wrestlers be out of a job. Worse yet I don't see any company getting a tv deal here in the states, other than wwe. It looks like a good amount of great talent will never be able to get into a bigger company that acually deserve it. I hope people that wanted tna gone are happy, this is what they got, when some of your favorite indy wrestlers get a huge pay cut due to there being no tna, and they can't make ends meet even though they are talented , they will retire and go get a job, and your going to be bitching about it.

Dragon Saga I hope you are right, about anothor company getting that spot, I would love to ROH get that spot or even GFW, but with people's attuides about wrestling that won't ever come to be.

Just Hero

New prisoner. Not surprisingly, like most Inmates, he's homophobic. And a moron. Definitely a moron. Maybe even an alt too.

Come celebrate Cena's #1 In My Heart here. Or mock him relentlessly. Whichever.

Most Unpredictable Segment/Promo Interruptions

The premise of this thread is simple. Who did you least expect to see interrupt a segment or come out to fight someone when someone else was called out? I'll start off with two very good examples of what this thread is about.

http://ift.tt/1u1pNFK

I mean really. Did someone actually expect a jobber group to come out and attempt to attack a mega star and someone who has legit power in the behind the scenes department in WWE and at the time was feuding with Brock? Michael Cole summed it up perfectly when he said "What on earth" And I don't think anyone expected The Shield part either, as they were still in a feud with Orton, Big Show and Team Hell No.

Next is quite possibly the best example of unpredictable interruptions.

http://ift.tt/1u1pNFN

3MB says in an interview that they are gonna call out The Shield. They promo about it and demands them to come out. They don't get The Shield. They instead get BROCK FUCKING LESNAR. Fucking random as hell. In what way was he associated with The Shield? You really expect them to book Lesnar for an appearance just to easily decimate a jobber squad? I mean it was entertaining and all, but still, who the hell would have expected that to happen?

I'll be sure to post more examples of this later and I look forward to feedback.

Cesaro told the Truth

Cena's shoes from Kmart.

http://ift.tt/1qnsFue

The Washington Post are a bunch of marks though. "Cena proved he can wrestle by beating Cesaro"... on a scripted show.. yeah... doesn't mean he can wrestle though.. it just means the WWE wants you to think he can.

I thought that hurricanruna he did to Cesaro was hilarious. Cena smashed his own head into the mat while doing it and Cesaro's head meanwhile hit nothing but air, a good 4 inches from the mat. LOL!

Red Sox redux

Last year, I did a topic asking how the Red Sox could go from being a last place team in 2012.....to the World Series champions in 2013.

Now, they're presently in the cellar again. How can this be?

I'm uneducated about baseball, so forgive me for the statement that last year, it seemed everything broke right for them. No, I'm not saying a terrible team ever winds up winning the World Series, but I never believed they were as good as they appeared to be. In addition to apparently being thrilled that Bobby Valentine wasn't leading them anymore, they seemed to get every break on the field in 2013. Highlights on the New England Sports Channel consistently showed batted balls bouncing in the just the right spots, good & bad umpire calls all going in their favor, and opposing teams always seemed to be facing the Sox when they were in the midst of losing streaks.

Dumb statement? Possibly; it even sounds dumb to me. Yet, how does a professional team go from worst to first to worst without huge changes in personnel?

What am I missing?

Kurt Angle Return

Royal Rumble 2015 and I can see him starting a feud with maybe Cesaro but also maybe Daniel Bryan. I don't know how people feel here but know Kurt will have a spot this coming WM. Punk would be cool but right now it seems unlikely.

Real story behind Brock Lesnar's encounter with a female fan at an airport

A few days ago, a video was posted on WrestleZone and other wrestling news sites, of what seemed like Brock Lesnar supposedly giving a female fan a cold shoulder. The following is what the lady's husband (who was filming the video) explained about the incident:

Quote:

"Saori went up to Brock and ask if he was Brock Lesnar... Brock first didn't hear her until Sable said to Brock" I think she is talking to you", then Brock turn around and looked at Saori and asked "How are you?", Saori said fine and she ask him"Are you Brock Lesnar?" He said "Yes" and then she ask "Can i take a picture with you?" And he said "No, not today", Saori then said thank you and walked away ... .. I told Saori it was ok ... No worries .. -It was still cool to see him and see my wife talk to Brock."

Source:

Click for Spoiler:

In contrast to what most of us thought, Brock Lesnar seemed to have gone relatively easy on the fan (which is a good thing, of course). The fan too should be praised for approaching in a very respectful manner.

Here is another incident, this one more recent. This fan didn't get addressed to so kindly though. :D Here's his story:

Quote:

"On the beach here in Florida and I was taking a picture of the beach and all of a sudden I hear some guy yell "HEY NO FUCKING PICTURES" and I look and

see Brock Lesnar. I didn't even know he was there and I wasn't even taking a picture of him! Pretty jerkish thing to say. Oh well still pretty cool to see him. After he waled by I took a picture, I have it right here but I'm not sure how to upload it. If anyone can tell me how to I will upload it immediately."

Source:

Click for Spoiler:

These are a few arguments coming from wrestling fans:

-He does not owe anyone an autograph or photo. He has every right to refuse.

-He gets paid so much for only a few days work. What's the big deal in posing with a few fans here and there?

-At least he replied normally. Someone like CM Punk would call her a bitch and ask her to fuck off.

-Wrestling fans should not even approach wrestlers when they are with family, and ask for photos. Its very intrusive.

What do you think?

Female Representative of the Attitude Era?

So elsewhere I was declaring my love for Sable and that she was really the female representative of the AE. She was hugely over - so over that they revived the women's division just to get her on screen more. She was getting pops that normally would be reserved for Austin.

However I always forget when the Attitude Era actually is supposed to have ended. In my mind it always ended with 2001 and the WCW Buyout. By that point Trish and Lita weren't as huge as they would go onto be. The only one who could really rival Sable from the period of 1997-2001 was Chyna.

But taking all this into account, what lady do you think best represents the Attitude Era of the WWF?

I'm still sticking with Sable since I'm pretty damned sure 1998 and 1999 were two of the biggest, hottest years in WWF history and Sable was as over as anyone else at that time. Trish and Lita might have risen to teh top too but it was at a lower period.

But. hey, what do I know. I made this topic to get opinions.

If WWE bought TNA, could TNA stay alive?

When WWF bought WCW there was money to be made. The WCW brand still could have lived yet Vince wanted to bury them completely. With this on-going battle of TNA and their tv contact, it's a possibility that TNA might be facing some hard times. So lets look at the Hypothetical yet Plausible situation:

WWE buys TNA

Instead of nitpicking guys from TNA and putting them on an already packed WWE roster, why not keep TNA running as is. Let TNA compete with WWE. Paul Heyman and Jim Ross could be sent to TNA and are told to run the company the way they want it. Build the audience, do the booking, bring the ratings. Compete from within. Whatever profits TNA makes goes to WWE anyways. Don't do some crossover show. Let the corporate office compete with each other.

It makes me think of the company Procter and Gamble. Example: they own Zest and Old Spice. Both are body washes. Two different products that compete against each other yet still owned by one company.

If WWE wants to monopolize the wrestling market (which that have that strangle hold) why not try doing this with TNA so that way it keeps mainstream wrestling alive.

Anyone understand what I'm getting at? Let the products stand alone yet compete under the same corporation. Let them be different products.

TNA also could be its own company yet still have pay per views shown on the WWE Network. The wrestling fan will almost be getting a PPV every two weeks to watch on Sunday. Again, No crossovers, let the companies run as if they don't acknowledge each other.

Any Thoughts on this?

Non Wrestlers Wrestling

This topic has probably been done before but I am too lazy and don't expect that I can find it so here goes.

Seeing that Stephanie McMahon is likely going to get in the ring at SummerSlam it got me thinking - what non-wrestlers have intrigued you prior to having a match?

I'll admit that as a kid I was more interested in seeing Mr. T compete or the NFL guys than I was most wrestlers. Mean Gene tagging with Hogan or The Brain being forced to compete and taking a tag caught my attention. I always wanted to see what they could and would do.

As I have gotten older a lot of the intrigue is gone. Too many celebs have come and gone and left a bad impression. Jay Leno and Dennis Rodman were hard to stomach but never interested me anyway. David Arquette Cox intrigued me because I was curious if he learned enough making a movie to translate in to the ring. I actually thought he did an OK job (I smell the red rep as I type). I wasn't disappointed in his effort. I get why people were angry that he was booked to win the title but I thought he did OK. And if that doesn't make you red rep me, let me just say that I don't think K-Fed did a bad job either.

But to me the most intriguing non-wrestler booked to wrestle that I can remember comes back full circle to the beginning of this discussion, is actually Stephanie McMahon. It was somewhat interesting to see Vince compete and I wasn't disappointed, I wasn't really interested in seeing Shane and I turned out to be totally wrong. But hearing and seeing Steph was going to wrestle was a shock and got me completely invested only to be utterly let down. I really hope she ups her game for SummerSlam but after seeing her get somewhat physical during Vicki's swan song so recently doesn't give me much hope.

I started this thread to give people a chance to share their feelings about non-wrestlers wrestling and maybe have a discussion. Not The Rock or Brock or any other part time guy. That "part time taking a spot" talk is done to death in other threads. Sooooo...

Are you completely against a non-wrestler getting a spot on the card? Who stands out in your mind when you think about this topic? When have you had high expectations? Were they fulfilled? Who else would you like to see compete?

The Demand For Sting

The demand for Sting has been overwhelming and much more than the WWE anticipated. Reports out of last nights raw in Houston said that there was a massive pop when the Sting video played and a very loud "we want sting" chant started. Houston isn't exactly WCW country either. There was even talk that Sting appearing for WWE at Comic Con was the big news story stealing thunder away from Marvel and DC at Comic Con. There is no doubt that Sting is going to wrestle one more match probably at Wrestlemania but is that enough? With the reaction that Sting is getting I think he should have a least a mini run with the WWE. He could debut in October or November and have a few matches before Wrestlemania. His opponents are obvious.....Cena, Orton, and Triple H.

LL Deadline Extension

Since extensions have been requested, the deadline for the Lethal Lottery PPV has been pushed back to Thursday July 31st.

Speculation On WWE Buying TNA Library

F4WOnline.com stated a little while ago that there's speculation going around that WWE will make an offer to purchase TNA's video library if they're unable to secure a television deal with another network. According to the report, the going rate is currently $500 per hour of footage and that TNA has a little over 1,000 hours of TNA iMPACT/Impact Wrestling footage, that's not counting the various ppvs they've done over the years.

So, IF the amount per hour of footage is accurate, then the cost of the TNA's library of every TV show and ppv event would be somewhere in the neighborhood of about $650,000 to $675,000 range. So, again if that price is accurate, it'd be it's not exactly a huge sum of money for WWE to pay. I don't see there being a lot of demand for TNA footage, but it could be put to some degree of use I suppose at some point.

Expedia, book me on the next flight to Glasgow

Though it looks as if he took a vacation from the gym and the sun lamp, it's great to see Drew performing in a place where it looked as if he mattered, something we hadn't seen in WWE in about 6 years. You can see that the 42 fans in attendance were enjoying his stuff. :worship:

So the streak ended....

The undefeated streak of Bo Dallas came to the end...at the hands of R-Truth. When this happened, I couldn't stop laughing my ass off. The wonder boy with the push gets his first major loss at the hands of a jobber who hasn't been relevant since...2013? So the question is

- Does this mean R-Truth is going to be pushed again?

- Was this a right way to end the streak?

As for my speculations, I doubt R-Truth is going to get a push because it was presented as a fluke...Kofi scored victories against Randy Orton when he was champion, but that was also treated like a fluke and Kofi didn't go anywhere...and they had a real match. What we saw between R-Truth and Bo wasn't even a squash. It's a shame too, because I do think R-Truth is charismatic and kind of wasted in such a low card role.

But I do think it was a good way to end the streak, because it's fitting that a 'winner' like Bo loses to what he (and many) would perceive as a loser. I almost wish it was Heath Slater for that reason, but R-Truth works well enough. Plus, in theory, it does a bit more for his character. Now he's more open to be a truer heel, maybe even getting angry at the crowd for 'not bolieving' or something of the sorts. Unlike Rusev, Bo Dallas doesn't really need a streak either. I think Bo has a more enduring character, presuming he does develop. If he does the same shit every week, he will get stale. Plus, it was a nice twist and gave R-Truth a little bit of relevance. I just wish it was an actual match. R-Truth did more in his losing effort against Bray...

2011-12 WWE MVP

Continuing on with this series and up next is the 2011-12 WWE season. For me this is the 1st of back to back years for CM Punk as the MVP of the WWE. He began the year slowly transitioning from his feud with Orton to nothing really until of course the infamous pipe bomb promo. From there on he was the hottest thing until the rise of Bryan. While many have argued that after beating Cena twice that summer Trips/Nash derailed his momentum, there is no denying that from that promo on he was the hottest most important thing going in the WWE.

New wave of employee cuts coming!

WZ has an 'exclusive' apparently where they are citing more budget cuts coming this week and up to 30 employees at executive level could be shown the door. There was no mention of any main roster guys getting the chop but I still wouldn't be surprised if they 'trimmed the fat' a little more given they have just signed Kenta, Prince Devitt and have 4/5 in NXT knocking on the main roster door.

Does anyone else see any of the main roster talent getting the push? Is there anybody you are worried for and anyone you would advise to 'turn off their phone'?

IMPROBABLE BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE

Alberto Del Rio

Vince loves this guy, but I believe his contract is nearing the end and he isn't interested in signing a new one. If there is no future they may speed up the process.

Christian

Inactive for a while now and he looks to be coming to the end of his contract. I cannot see them renewing but he could get a job backstage.

Rey Mysterio

WWE wants to keep him, but reports are suggesting Rey wants out and is not cashing in his cheques. They could end it all now.

I'D BE WORRIED

Damian Sandow

WWE have turned him into a joke. It makes me sad because with an IC or US Title this guy could have gone somewhere with his gimmick. Good worker and great on the mic. I hope he stays.

David Otunga

I don't know what this guy does behind the scenes legally but the Jennifer Hudson factor has worn off. I can't believe this guy is still employed.

Fandango

I really hope they don't because I like the character but he is now a jobber and his stock has nosedived since 12 months ago.

The Great Khali

This guy has a huge fanbase in India and is 'the circus freak' but I wouldn't be surprised to see WWE cut him.

TURN YOUR PHONE OFF

Titus O'Neil

I thought this guy would do well on his own, but he just hasn't gotten over. Now teaming with Heath Slater which is never a good sign.

Zack Ryder

WWE obviously do not rate this guy. They gave him a shot a few years ago but it fizzled out once the fans got what they wanted. He will go sooner or later.

Is it worth being the "next" john cena?

We always are seeing everyone saying how they want to be the next john cena, the next top guy but I ask is it worth being john cena? I just hate to think that my favorite could turn and have these qualities. Let's look at the positive and negatives.

Positive

- you get most money

- always end the show

- never lose so always looked strong

Negative

-restricted move set- Cena can wrestle but he is just being told to only do 5 moves, I think that's because it's the highest number his fans can count to.

- ugly t shirts- We all hate the color and the look of those outfits he wears

- stuck with same character forever- which causes a lot of hate toward the fans because we would be seeing the same thing over and over and over again

- people wishing for his death- I have seen way too many people call cena names and hope for his death on many occasions I would honestly hate to say anyone in that situation.

- exhausted with media appearances- we all hear cena say how he has to get up early morning and do all the media appearances that he does, they have to be having a huge toll on his body.

-so I ask after looking at these positives and negative is it worth being the top guy or better being the 2nd top guy and let some slump have all the problems

What is your favorite WWE PPV active or defunct?

This thread question isn't going to include Wrestlemania since it's the biggest WWE pay per-view of the year.

For the past few years now the WWE has been switching up their yearly WWE pay per-view scheduling alot. WWE PPV's made more sense back in the days where there were not as many PPV's in the year. But my personal question to those who can remember that far back. What is your favorite WWE PPV active or defunct?

Mines personally would have to be...The King of the Ring! It's just that so many stars have been made from the kotr torney from over the years. Bret Hart, Stone Cold, HHH, Kurt Angle, to Brock Lesner. That's how much the kotr means to me. But, what is your favorite WWE PPV active or defunct?

This interested me more than anything on wwe television

http://ift.tt/1oEWIiN

Ok yea I might be biased because it's Drew McIntyre(Drew Galloway) but seeing this made me want to actually follow the icw promotion and it gave me that feeling like something special happend. That something was Drew Galloway showcasing his true talent like wwe missed out on. Watch the brawl and amazing promo and tell me how you feel about him now.

WWE SummerSlam: Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella

We all suspected it and now it's official. Stephanie McMahon will wrestle Brie Bella at SummerSlam. I know most of us that post on discussion forums prefer a certain style of wrestling and Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon don't exactly fit into that style. Say what you want but it's hard to deny this is one of the hottest angles going in WWE right now. The crowd is eating it up. I think we can all admit that pro wrestling is a soap opera and sometimes you have to put athleticism aside in place of some over the top drama. I'm not expecting much in terms of action but the drama and crowd could make up for it. I encourage you all to have an open mind and try to enjoy this for what it is. Maybe we'll even get a surprise appearance from Daniel Bryan.

Week of 7/21/2014 - 7/27/2014

Monday

Monday Night Raw

Date: July 21, 2014

Location: American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida

Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Jerry Lawler

We're past Battleground and officially heading towards Summerslam. The show is in less than four weeks and the main event, while pretty obvious, has the potential to be awesome. Tonight we're likely finding out what HHH's Plan C is and who will be challenging Cena at Summerslam. Other than that Flo Rida is performing tonight for reasons that aren't exactly clear. Let's get to it.

Here's HHH to open things up. He talks about how no one wants to look him in the eye because they think he'll blow a gasket over the Authority losing last night. HHH goes off, saying he hasn't been this mad in a long time but he has options. He says he's going to Tweet about how upset he is. He's so mad he might even send an Instagram or a VINE. If he doesn't get what he wants, hes' going to riot. And if THAT doesn't work, he and his friend Mark are going to stop watching. Or another option is to fire everyone backstage.

HHH calms down and says he could lay back because he has options. He even guarantees that Cena won't leave Summerslam as WWE Champion. The only question is who gets to take it from him. This brings out Randy Orton who wants a one on one match with Cena. HHH says Orton is the frontrunner, but the entire roster is going to get a chance to impress him. Randy blames Kane and here's the monster himself. Kane says he can beat Cena if he doesn't have to babysit Randy Orton.

Cue Roman Reigns who says no one wants to see Cena vs. Kane, and for sure no one wants to see Cena vs. Orton AGAIN. It sounds to him like everyone wants to see Roman Reigns vs. John Cena. Reigns gets in and lays out Kane with a Superman Punch but Orton bails to the floor. HHH makes Kane/Orton vs. Roman Reigns right now.

Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton/Kane

Randy starts for his team and gets popped in the jaw with a right hand. Kane comes in and walks into a Samoan drop so it's back to Randy. Reigns finally gets slowed down with a knee to the ribs and the heels start making fast tags. Roman quickly fights out of a nerve hold and raises a boot to stop a charging Kane. The monster gets sent to the floor and we take a break.

Back with Reigns fighting out of a chinlock but getting stomped down to the mat. Kane comes in again with an elbow to the jaw for two and it's back to Orton for another chinlock. Reigns fights up again with another Samoan drop before knocking Kane into the ropes for the running boot. Kane clotheslines Reigns down but Orton won't tag in. Orton gets grabbed by the throat but Reigns uses the distraction to hit the Superman Punch and the spear for the pin on Kane at 12:18.

Orton teases getting in the ring but backs down from Reigns.

Stephanie gives Alicia Fox/Eva Marie/Cameron/Rosa Mendes a pep talk before their four on one handicap match against Nikki Bella.

Alicia Fox/Cameron/Rosa Mendes/Eva Marie vs. Nikki Bella

Brie is in the front row so here's Stephanie to say everything that is happening to Nikki because Brie is a quitter. Brie calls Stephanie a very mean name and holds up her ticket. They yell at each other some more and Stephanie slaps Brie again before Brie gets dragged out. The bell rings and Nikki is of course destroyed. Alicia calls off the dogs before pinning Nikki in 32 seconds.

Stephanie says Nikki is going to quit soon.

Damien Sandow vs. Bo Dallas

This week Sandow is in a Miami Heat jersey with the word Miami crossed off and Cleveland written below it. Damien starts fast but Bo fights back wit a backdrop and clothesline to send Sandow outside. Back in and Bo hammers away with right hands. Bo is wrestling more like a face this week. Sandow knees him in the ribs and nails a suplex before putting on a chinlock. The Wind-Up Elbow misses and a Bodog keeps Bo undefeated at 2:30.

Back from a break with the Highlight Reel but Bray and the Family have laid out Jericho in the locker room. Bray shows us a clip of the attack and him telling Jericho that sooner or later, they all fall down. In the arena, Bray says Jericho isn't here but Bray Wyatt is. The fans may think that Chris Jericho is a better man than he is, but a loss in a battle means nothing to him.

The war is all that counts and he was the man that created war. It hasn't been long since the Wyatts brought heroes to their knees. You cannot measure him like a normal man because society does not make him and he lives a hundred years a day. Abigail told him to never chase vengeance or he would have to dig two graves: one for his enemy and one for himself.

Jericho is in the back and bleeding from the ear.

The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler

Non-title. Miz runs to the floor to start and Ziggler finally chases after him, only to fail at sending Miz into the steps. Back in and Miz stomps away but Ziggler takes him down and drops nine straight elbows. Miz trips Dolph up and puts on a chinlock before Miz catapults him over the top. Ziggler skins the cat and pulls Miz to the apron with him, only to be sent into the post as we take a break.

Back with Ziggler grabbing his arms but still not being able to nail a right hand to the face. Miz stomps on him even more and we hit the chinlock. Ziggler fights up and sends him into the buckle, followed by clotheslines and a neckbreaker. The Fameasser is countered into a rollup for two and a Side Effect gets the same for Miz.

Ziggler kicks him in the jaw and grabs a running DDT for two more. Miz's short DDT gets two and it's time to go after the leg. The Figure Four goes on but Ziggler finally dives for the ropes. Back up and a Fameasser gets another near fall on Miz but Ziggler can't hit the Fameasser. Miz loads up the Skull Crushing Finale, only to get rolled through into the Zig Zag for the pin at 13:35.

HHH is telling Seth Rollins that there's no reason for him to face John Cena at Summerslam because he's got a title shot whenever he wants it. Rollins says there's no way this can happen because Dean Ambrose keeps interfering. Cesaro comes in and says he's no longer a Heyman Guy. Instead he'd rather be HHH's guy. Rollins says HHH already has a guy, but Cesaro says he'd be a great choice to face Cena at Summerslam. HHH says it would be very impressive if Cesaro could beat Dean Ambrose tonight.

Emma/Natalya vs. AJ Lee/Paige

Emma trips AJ down to start and they trade rollups for two each. Paige comes in and walks into the Emma Lock before it's off to Natalya for two off a rollup. Natalya puts on the Sharpshooter but Paige crawls over for the tag to AJ. A Shining Wizard and the Black Widow make Natalya tap at 2:25.

Post match Paige turns full heel and destroys AJ, including throwing her over the announcers' table. Paige skips away.

Fandango vs. Zack Ryder

Ryder comes out with Summer Rae and Layla this time. Ryder hammers away to start but Fandango nails him with a dropkick. Fandango takes him down but gets caught in a faceplant. Ryder's middle rope dropkick misses but Fandango doesn't follow up. Ryder comes back with a Rough Ryder for the pin at 1:47. Layla shoved Fandango's foot off the rope to give Ryder the win.

We recap Brie and Stephanie from earlier.

Flo Rida thinks he might get the title shot against John Cena. Heath Slater comes up and wants revenge from Flo Rida attacking him at Wrestlemania XXVIII. Slater shoves him and is shoved down to the ground.

Flo Rida performs. Stephanie was in the ring to introduce him and is arrested after the performance for attacking Brie earlier. Brie pops up and yells at her before being dragged off again. Stephanie is taken to the back and HHH tries to calm her down as Stephanie is put in the police car. HHH: “Is this a hybrid?” He promises to have her out of jail in five minutes.

Back from a break and HHH is about to leave but a guy (maybe Joey Mercury) says HHH has to decide on Cena's opponent. HHH says family is more important but realizes that it's going to take awhile to process Stephanie. He keeps the car on standby.

Ryback/Curtis Axel vs. Kofi Kingston/Big E.

Ryback and Big E. get things going with Ryback hammering away against the ropes. Big E. runs him over but walks into a spinebuster and gets double teamed in the corner. A side slam gets two for Ryback and he throws Big E. down with a belly to belly. The Meat Hook is countered by a clothesline from Big E. and he makes the hot tag to Kofi. Kingston speeds things up and gets two off the SOS as everything breaks down. Ryback rolls through a high cross body and pins Kofi at 3:25.

Big E. and Kofi are upset post match but Xavier Woods, now in glasses and a white suit, comes in and says they're not getting anywhere by shaking hands and kissing babies. Instead of asking, now they're going to be taking. Kofi and Big E. seem to agree. That was a very heelish promo from Woods.

We look back at the Wyatts attacking Jericho earlier.

Rusev vs. Great Khali

Rusev is still selling the ankle lock from last night. The big chop stuns Rusev and a big boot stops his charge. More chops in the corner have Rusev breathing deep but he nails Khali in the throat. The big chop puts Rusev down but he pops up and kicks Khali in the shoulder. A running superkick to the face sets up the Accolade for the submission at 2:27.

Clip of Sheamus on Royal Pains this week.

Stardust and Goldust talk about the Cosmic Key some more. It's calling them.

We recap Brie and Stephanie again. Renee Young reports that Stephanie is going to be arraigned tonight and may be charged with resisting arrest.

Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro

Ambrose hammers away to start and takes Cesaro to the floor to keep up the beating. Back in and Cesaro kicks him in the face before sending Ambrose shoulder first into the post. HHH is on the phone in the back while Orton and Rollins watch on. Cesaro cranks on the arm and the match slows down a lot. Back up and Cesaro nails him with a right hand, only to be sent to the floor. Ambrose tries a dive but lands on an uppercut as we take a break.

Back with Cesaro still on the arm before getting two off a German suplex. Cesaro's superplex is countered and Ambrose nails a missile dropkick followed by a cross body. Ambrose suplex is countered but he sends Cesaro into the corner to escape a cross face chicken wing.

Cesaro heads outside but gets wiped out with a suicide dive. Back in and the rebound clothesline gets two on Cesaro but he comes back with a clothesline of his own. Dean gets a boot up in the corner but goes up and gets crotched into the Tree of Woe. Cesaro charges into the post twice in a row and Ambrose throws him in a third time. With the insanity setting in, Dean grabs a chair and blasts Cesaro in the arm for the DQ at 12:32.

Renee asks HHH if he should be with his wife right now and gets glared at.

HHH is in the ring and brings out Orton as the challenger, but Reigns intercepts Orton on the way to the ring and brawls with him into the crowd. This brings out Paul Heyman who says HHH needs to consider Plan C. Cue Lesnar and HHH isn't sure what to do. Brock stares him down and HHH shakes his hand. The boss leaves and Heyman gets to do his greasy promo about how Lesnar conquered the Streak. Now it's time for Lesnar to conquer John Cena and take the WWE Championship at Summerslam.

Heyman says it doesn't matter if you chant LET'S GO CENA or CENA SUCKS because Brock Lesnar is going to destroy Cena one way or another. We get a clip from Wrestlemania where the Streak was conquered and Paul talks about how that same beating is awaiting John Cena. Lesnar is going to punch, hurt, injure and F5 John Cena before taking the WWE Championship from him. He pledges loyalty to Brock Lesnar and promises Brock will take the title from Cena at Summerslam.

NXT

Date: July 24, 2014

Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida

Commentators: Renee Young, Rich Brennan, Alex Riley

As usual with NXT, there are a few matches already set for this week. Tonight we're getting Summer Rae vs. Charlotte for the Women's Title to likely blow off the BFFs once and for all as well as Kalisto finding a partner to help him fight off the Vaudevillains. That's one of the things I like best about NXT: they don't have to start from scratch every week and it saves them so much time. Let's get to it.

We open with a recap of the collapse of the BFFs and Charlotte's rise to the Women's Title.

Opening sequence.

Ascension vs. ???/???

Viktor destroys Jobber #1 to start and throws him into Jobber #2 in the corner. Konnor comes in and Jobber #2's chop just ticks him off. Jobber #2 gets destroyed for a bit and Fall of Man ends Jobber #2 at 2:37.

Tyler Breeze vs. Mojo Rawley

Beauty Shot ends this at 30 seconds in the only move of the match. So much for Rawley.

Women's Title: Summer Rae vs. Charlotte

Charlotte is defending. Heaven help me but Summer's theme song is growing on me. They get in each others' faces to start before Charlotte shoves Summer down. She mocks Summer's dancing and we go into the catfight. Charlotte takes over with some knees to the back and a Figure Four Neck Lock. We take a break and come back with Summer in the same hold and shouting about her beautiful face.

Charlotte flips her forward but gets sent to the floor to give Summer control. She slams Charlotte face first into the mat for two and puts on a bodyscissors. We get the very rare BORING chant in NXT as Charlotte gets caught in a half crab. Charlotte bites her way out and now the fans are doing the wave. A double clothesline puts both girls down but it's Charlotte up first and taking control. She grabs a quick Bow Down to the Queen to retain at 9:50.

Video on Alexa Bliss.

Sin Cara/Kalisto vs. Vaudevillains

Not a huge surprise but it's the right choice for a partner. English and Kalisto get things going with the masked man taking him down in a headlock. Off to Sin Cara for a loud chop and a cross body into a series of right hands to the head. Aiden dropkicks a springboard cross body out of the air for two and it's off to Gotch. Renee: “Gotch isn't allowed in England for trying to capture the Loch Ness Monster but getting Giant Haystacks.”

Gotch hammers away and gets two off a sunset flip before it's back to English for a hard stomping. English gets caught in an armdrag into a powerbomb and it's off to Kalisto to speed things up. Everything breaks down and Sin dives out onto English and Kalisto hits a standing Sliced Bread #2 for the pin on Gotch at 6:00.

Rusev vs. Adrian Neville

Non-title. Lana does her thing and talks about America's obsessions with stars before the match. Rusev even speaks some English and talks about being the super athlete. Neville moves around as much as he can to start but gets caught in the corner and the beating begins.

The champion gets up some boots in the corner to stop a charge but the rest of his kicks don't have much of an effect. Rusev grabs the leg and gets choked in the air. Neville comes back with a springboard missile dropkick. Tyler Breeze comes out for a distraction though and Rusev runs Neville over. Adrian escapes the fall away slam and nails a big kick. He loads up the Red Arrow but Breeze shoves him off for the DQ at 4:02.

Rusev puts him in the Accolade and makes Neville tap after the bell.

Results

Ascension b. ???/??? – Fall of Man to ???

Tyler Breeze b. Mojo Rawley – Beauty Shot

Charlotte b. Summer Rae – Bow Down to the Queen

Sin Cara/Kalisto b. Vaudevillains – Standing Sliced Bread #2 to Gotch

Adrian Neville b. Rusev via DQ when Tyler Breeze interfered

It's the second show in New York and the main story is whether or not Austin Aries is going to cash in the X-Division Title for a shot at the World Title next week. Does TNA think that the fans believe he might keep the midcard title instead of going after the big one using an idea he created? Other than that I'm sure Bully will be chasing Dixie around the arena with a table in hand again. Let's get to it.

Austin Aries arrives.

We look back at the end of last week's show where Ray almost put Dixie through a table.

MVP vs. Bobby Roode

Falls count anywhere. There's no MVP so we go to the back where Angle orders MVP, still on crutches, to the ring. Roode runs to the back and goes after MVP before ramming him into various hard objects. They head back to the arena and fight in the crowd. There hasn't been a bell yet. MVP throws a beer at Roode and hits him in the ribs with chair but misses a running kick to the face.

They get back to ringside and MVP knocks him down for some two counts. I didn't hear a bell but I guess that doesn't matter in a brawl like this. Roode suplexes him on the ramp for two as Kenny King makes a save. Eric Young jumps King from behind and chases him off as Roode is sent into the steps. Back in and MVP nails Roode in the back with a chair over and over. He tries a running boot to drive Roode's head into the chair but Bobby moves and kicks out the bad knee. Now it's Roode with the chair and hammers away at the knee before putting on a bad looking Sharpshooter for the submission at approximately 8:00.

Video on Hardy vs. Lashley last week.

Video on Team 3D attacking Spud and Ethan last week.

Dixie is here to support Ethan in his match tonight. Bully will NOT put her through a table and she'll stand over Ray's dead body.

Here's a limping Jeff Hardy with something to say. Jeff says we'll see Willow again someday and he does everything to entertain the people. He says he's got someone special for us here and the fans chant for Matt. That's exactly what they get too and Matt looks better than he has in awhile.

Matt thanks Jeff and the fans for letting him come back because he needed to go away and get healthy. He thinks he's let the fans down but they tell him thank you. Matt thinks it's time for the Hardy Boys to be back on top of the roster, and what better way than to win the Tag Team Titles at Destination X? He invites the Wolves down to see them and here come the champions. There isn't much said here, but the Wolves respect the Hardys very much and would love to give them a title shot.

Aries has made his decision.

All three BroMans are in the ring with Jesse bragging about Robbie E. being on a reality show. He won't say what it is but says it's a big deal (it's Amazing Race). DJZ brags about being the best in the X-Division. Now it's time for his match.

Low Ki vs. DJZ

DJZ actually takes over to start and gets two off a running knee to the face. Ki comes back with kicks to the face and right hands in the corner and a quick Ki Crusher (sitout fisherman's buster) gets the pin at 2:30.

Gunner is in the back with Samuel Shaw and talking about some girl when Anderson comes in. Shaw knows Anderson doesn't like him, but maybe one day he'll have to.

Ethan Carter III is with Rhino and Spud and talks about being from the streets of Boca Raton. Dixie comes in with King Mo and tells her men to take out the extreme guys in their hometown.

Magnus/Bram vs. Gunner/Mr. Anderson

Gunner elbows Magnus in the face to start but it's quickly off to Bram with a big slam. More slams have him in trouble and Gunner hammers away with right hands. It's back to Magnus who gets elbowed down by Anderson, followed by the rolling fireman's carry. Everything breaks down and Bram posts Anderson before sending him back in for a Spine Shanker (German suplex into a sitout Rock Bottom) for the pin at 2:48.

The Brits keep up the beating post match but Shaw runs in to take the shot with the piece of metal for Anderson. Abyss runs in and beats up Bram for the save.

Bully Ray says he's losing sleep over not being able to put Dixie through a table. Tonight he's teaming with Dreamer and D-Von in a New York City street fight.

Video on Austin Aries and the history of Option C.

Kurt Angle comes out and explains Option C to the fans before asking Aries to come out. Austin says this sounds like a no brainer. This brings out MVP and Bobby Lashley with the former boss talking about how Lashley is bigger, stronger and faster than Austin Aries. MVP says Aries has built up the X-Division and should stick to what he knows.

Aries cuts them off and says he knows how to touch things and make the great. He knows what it takes to be the World Heavyweight Champion. Aries knows that MVP held him down and says he can do things in this ring that MVP couldn't do with four legs. Lashley may be bigger and stronger than Aries, but there's no way he's tougher. Austin cashes in the belt for a shot next week.

Video on Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell's rivalry.

Knockouts Title: Gail Kim vs. Taryn Terrell

Gail is defending and starts fast with a takedown followed by a superplex. The running cross body in the corner gets two but both girls try cross bodies at the same time. Taryn makes her comeback with a snap suplex and goes up to but the Beautiful People come in for the DQ at 4:04.

Jeremy Borash brings out Great Muta but Robbie E. interrupts. He wants a match right now and it's on.

Great Muta vs. Robbie E.

Kicks, power drive elbows, Shining Wizard, pin in 57 seconds.

James Storm comes out post match and yells at Muta about earning your spot. He spits beer in Muta's face and beats him down but Sanada comes in with the save. Sanada turns on Muta with the mist and lays him out before nailing a moonsault. He bows to Storm and leaves with him.

Dixie and King Mo talk about regretting allowing Tommy Dreamer to come in here a few years ago. They want those chants to stop.

Tommy Dreamer/Team 3D vs. Ethan Carter III/Spud/Rhino

Street fight. It's a brawl to start of course and Ethan is coming in with bad ribs from the attack last week. The extreme ones take over to start and Bully throws Spud over the top and down onto Carter. Rhino is dropped as well and we take an early break. Back with Ray using the cheese grater on Ethan's chest but Rhino makes the save.

Dreamer takes Rhino down and Spud goes after D-Von in the corner, only to get caught in a Doomsday Device. Dreamer does the baseball slide into the chair in the Tree of Woe and it's table time. A fan in a black hoodie tries to jump the barricade but Ray is right on him. Dreamer hits Carter with a Singapore cane and loads up the piledriver but Ezekiel Jackson from WWE runs in and lays Dreamer out, allowing Ethan to hit the 1%er onto a chair for the pin on Dreamer at 9:43.

Post match a gloating Dixie comes out and tells security to let the other guy up, revealing Snitsky. The beating is on and Team Dixie stands tall to end the show. Rhino holding up the unconscious Spud made me chuckle.

We're done with Battleground and heading towards Summerslam with the announced main event of Brock Lesnar challenging John Cena for the WWE Title. Other than that the big story seems to be Reigns vs. Orton which would be Reigns' first big solo match on the grand stage. A win over a former World Champion at Summerslam will be nothing but good for him. Let's get to it.

We open with a recap of Lesnar being announced as the #1 contender.

Opening sequence.

Ryback/Curtis Axel vs. Usos

Non-title. Jey and Ryback get things going with the big guy nailing a quick hiptoss but missing a Warrior Splash. Off to Jimmy for some chops but Ryback shoves him out of the corner. Axel comes in and hammers away before not ducking enough on a leapfrog from Jimmy. Curtis throws Jimmy to the floor and Ryback nails him with a running clothesline as we take a break.

Back with Ryback firing off chops to Jimmy in the corner before driving him over to the other corner for a beating from Axel. Curtis hits a running knee to the head for two and now Ryback's Warrior Splash connects. We hit a chinlock for a bit before Jimmy fights up and nails an enziguri. The hot tag brings in Jey and things speed up. There's the running Umaga attack to Axel and a Samoan drop gets two. Ryback gets low bridged to the floor and there's the Flying Uso to take him down. Axel dropkicks Jey off the apron but some Twin Magic allows Jimmy to roll Curtis up for the pin at 6:50 shown of 9:50.

One other note: at the tapings, Ryback walked out on Axel after the match. That isn't mentioned or shown here so I'm guessing WWE changed its mind.

Time for MizTV. Miz brags about winning the Intercontinental Title on Sunday and asks for quiet on the set so he can give his acceptance speech. He thanks his team and introduces his parents in the front row. Miz's mom's arms are more defined than her son's. Mom says it's awesome to have the Intercontinental Champion for a son. Miz asks who is her favorite WWE superstar and is surprised when she says Roman Reigns. “He's hot!” The responses sounded intentionally scripted until the end.

Back in the ring and Miz keeps thanking people until Bo Dallas interrupts. JBL loves the idea of Dallas taking victory lap before he gets a victory. Bo says it's ok that he wasn't thanked by name because it's clear that Miz Bolieves. Miz says he's a huge fan and they should do lunch sometime.

This brings out Dolph Ziggler for another interruption. He says Miz's speech was great but don't pretend that was some big moment. The only award Miz should win is for hiding on the floor while Dolph did all the work. Both Miz and Dallas have million dollar smiles and they're both full of it. Dallas says Ziggler can be like them if he Bolieves before nailing Dolph with the microphone. After a break we've got a match.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Bo Dallas

Miz is on commentary. One thing I really like here: Cole says this was made by the Authority during the break. But how will people know how the match was made without a GM to walk them through it? Dallas hammers away to start as Cole brings up how scripted Miz's mom sounded. Bo stomps on Dolph but charges into a boot, setting up the running DDT for two. Ziggler throws him to the floor and teases a superkick at Miz before going back inside for two off a Fameasser. Miz gets on the apron for a distraction, allowing Dallas to grab a rollup and trunks to make him 17-0 at 3:30.

Post match Ziggler superkicks Bo but gets posted by the champion.

Roman Reigns says HHH has a Plan A and a Plan B, but no plan matters when you get hit with the Superman Punch. Tonight he's facing Alberto Del Rio, and Alberto better have a plan because Reigns has the punch. He's getting there with the talking.

Cesaro vs. Dean Ambrose

No DQ after Ambrose got DQ'ed on Monday. Ambrose stomps him down in the corner and wants to know who sent Cesaro out here. He pulls out some Singapore canes and chairs but Cesaro kicks him off the apron. Cesaro gets a cane of his own but only hits the post, allowing Ambrose to take him over the barricade and into the timekeeper's area. A box of something goes onto Cesaro's head but he comes back with a cane shot to the chest as Ambrose dives off the announcers' table.

We take a break and come back with Cesaro holding a cane over Dean's face. He sets up two chairs and slams Dean onto the chairs, which don't move. Back to the cane over the face before Cesaro nails him in the bad shoulder a few times. Dean says bring it and catches the next swing before hitting the rebound clothesline. Now it's Ambrose's turn to hammer away with the cane.

That's not enough for Dean though as he sets up two chairs back to back but neither guy can nail a suplex. Instead Dean picks one up and suplexes Cesaro through the other chair for two. A middle rope chair shot to Cesaro's arm has him in trouble but he slams Dean onto a chair for a near fall of his own. They head outside and Dean nails a suicide dive before throwing about ten chairs into the ring.

Ambrose throws Cesaro back in but here's Rollins to jump Dean. It doesn't seem to matter as Dean clotheslines him into the crowd but gets crotched on the top rope by Cesaro. A BIG superplex puts both guys down onto the pile of chairs for two and Cesaro is shocked. He's so shocked that Ambrose grabs a small package out of nowhere for the pin at 11:39 shown of 14:39.

Post match Rollins comes in and helps Cesaro lay out Dean to a huge YOU SOLD OUT chant. Dean is helped out by medics.

We recap Paige vs. AJ from Paige's debut up to her heel turn on Monday. They made this feel like a pretty huge feud.

Paige vs. Naomi

Paige skips to the ring ala AJ and actually pulls it off really well. She insists that she and AJ are still friends. Cameron comes out right after the bell and Paige gets in a cheap shot. The Rampaige (fisherman's DDT) sets up the PTO for the win at 33 seconds.

Cameron beats up Naomi post match and says she's here to make a statement. Naomi nails her in the face but gets knocked off the apron.

Goldust and Stardust look at an electrified crystal ball with Goldust saying he can see the golden stars. The Cosmic Key is discussed some more and Goldust pulls his head back. When he looks back, Stardust's head has replaced the ball. Goldust is in a magician's hat.

R-Truth vs. Bray Wyatt

Before the match we see Bray attacking Jericho backstage on Raw. Bray hammers away to start but walks into a running forearm. Truth dances a bit but turns around to see the Spider Walk. The running cross body to the ribs drops Truth sets up Sister Abigail for the pin at 2:04. Squash.

Post match Bray says Truth was there when Jericho needed him, but now Jericho isn't here for Truth. Jericho may not be a savior, but Bray is.

Video on Stephanie being arrested. She'll return on Raw. Again I ask: is it really a return when you were on the previous show?

We see Brock returning and Heyman's promo.

Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

Reigns hammers away in the corner but Del Rio goes after the arm very quickly. He tries the armbreaker about a minute into the match but is quickly sent to the floor as we take an early break. Back with Reigns getting kicked in the face but coming back with a Samoan drop and a clothesline to send Del Rio outside. Reigns misses a charge and hits the post, allowing Del Rio to wrap the arm around the steel. A superkick drives the arm into the post again and it's back inside for two.

Reigns breaks out of an armbar in a few seconds but Del Rio sends him into the buckle. The middle rope double stomp drives Reigns' head into the mat. The bad arm is rammed into the steps a few times for two and the corner enziguri gets the same. Reigns tries to fight back but gets caught in the armbreaker over the ropes. That's fine with Roman as he pulls Alberto up and nails an uppercut to knock Del Rio out to the floor.

Back in and Reigns hits a running clothesline but charges into a boot in the corner. A clothesline puts Del Rio down but he avoids the apron kick. I believe that's the first time anyone has ever done that. Del Rio nails a baseball slide for two and puts Roman in the Tree of Woe for some kicks to the ribs. Reigns avoids a charge and sends Del Rio's shoulder into the post. Now the apron kick connects, followed by the Superman Punch and a spear for the pin at 9:32 shown of 12:32.

Best Private tracker?

I used to use private trackers, but have been out of the loop for a long time. What's the best one I can sign up to? Does anyone know a good private tracker offering free sign ups or do you have an invite you'd like to share? It's seeming much harder to get into one than it was a few years ago, considering most require your info from another tracker.

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian NEW shoot interview

WOW this is a GREAT listen!

DAMN Kazarians Vince Russo impression is spot on!

Matt Morgan shoots on Spike TV

Quote:

If it's true Spike doesn't renew deal w/Tna, it's a double edged sword IMO. 1. They WERE and ARE atrociously bad at advertising that show whatsoever. I never used to see us advertised except maybe an hour b4 impact started. Not acceptable. And 2. the bad side of sword is obviously that it takes a TON of Tna's revenue away that they counted on to pay the wrestlers. But, 4 the co's future, I think the further they GET THE HELL AWAY FROM SPIKE, the better the co will be. That's just MY opinion obviously.

The most annoying part when still wrestling there was I'd see Bellator constantly advertised and we were doing a better # at the time. Hell, even Manswers got better PR by the network than we did!! Again, in long run, this SHOULD BE better 4 Tna IMO.

Hard to disagree with his opinion here

WWE SummerSlam: Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt

Triple H mentioned it in a 'by the way' kind of manner but it looks like Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt is set for SummerSlam. I wish this was their first match instead of a rematch from Battleground. With Jericho getting the win last time and in the position of veteran who puts over newer talent I think it's safe to say Wyatt will get the win this time. I get the feeling some kind of stipulation may be added to this one but I'm not sure what that would be. What are your general thoughts on this match? Who will win? Would you like to see a stipulation and if so what?

Raw LD

So it's on guys.

The fall and even further fall of zack Ryder

When zack Ryder started his YouTube show z! True Long Island story people fiowed and people loved it. Ryder's YouTube show is what I believe is one of the inspirations to wwe's social media boom, but he got very little credit for it and got buried even further. I mean how much can you bury a guy in one angle? He got destroyed by Kane on a weekly basis and lost his girlfriend to the face of the company. My question to everyone is, do you think zack can even make a small blip of a career or is he done for?

Who's left that John Cena needs to beat???

John Cena has faced plenty of big names over his illustrious career. He's beaten them before, after and while they were champions. In fact, every single World Champion that John Cena has faced off against has fallen to the Champ. Sure, Cena has lost plenty of matches too, but at the end of the day, he's beaten those guys at least once.

Here's a definitive list of every World Champion John Cena has beaten:

Now, there are also 11 Champions who have been with WWE at the same time as John Cena, but for some reason, they were never booked against each other. Those are: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Goldberg, Mick Foley, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, Justin Credible, Ezekiel Jackson & Matt Hardy. John got to pin Foley in a 5-way-match though, but I'm only counting singles victories here.

There's one man that doesn't appear on any of those lists. And that's the one guy who's been able to escape a singles loss to John Cena.:

Cena has beaten him in 3-ways and tag team matches, but Cena has never been able to beat him 1-on-1. The only time they faced off, it ended in a No Contest due to some shenanigans with Alberto and Punk at ringside. That means that when Christian officially retires, he'll be the only World Champion in WWE history to have faced off against John Cena and not lose. That's a pretty big deal all things considered.

So to answer the question from the title: Who's left? Well, anyone who debuts on Raw for the first time is automatically a new opponent for Cena. So I guess we can get excited for some match-ups with Bo Dallas and Adam Rose, but those matches won't be "big" unless these guys get some notoriety first. We already know that the only World Champion Cena hasn't beaten is Christian, but there are also other decorated champions that have yet to lose to John Cena.

Here's a list of every MitB/Tag/IC/US/CW champ that John has beaten in 1-on-1 bouts:

Of course, there have been plenty of guys who have avoided squaring off against John Cena. It's a pretty sizable list, but here are the ones that were on the roster as the same time with John Cena, but disappeared without ever facing off: Animal, Bubba Ray, Bull Buchanan, Charlie Haas, Chuck Palumbo, Curt Hawkins, Danny Basham, David Hart Smith, Deuce, Domino, Doug Basham, Drew McIntyre, Eugene, Evan Bourne, Gregory Helms, Heidenreich, Jamie Noble, Joey Mercury, Johnny, Juventud, Kid Kash, Lance Storm, Micky, Mitch, Montel Vontavious Porter, Paul London, Road Dogg, Rob Conway, Rosey, Scotty 2 Hotty, Sylvain Greneir, Tajiri, Trevor Murdoch, Val Venis & Vladimir Kozlov.

With them out of the way, now it's time to focus on the guys that are left for John Cena to beat. The decorated champions that are still on the main roster and have yet to lose to John Cena: Big E, Dean Ambrose, Diego, Fernando, Goldust, Hornswoggle, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Kofi Kingston, Roman Reigns, Tyson Kidd & William Regal.

You might have noticed that there's one guy who hasn't been mentioned...

That's because Curtis Axel is undefeated 2-0 against John Cena!! Cena has beaten him in handicap matches and tag matches, but when it comes to 1-on-1, Curtis Axel has beaten John via DQ and Count Out, making him the only guy on the main roster to have baten John Cena and never lost!

That distinction is only shared by two other guys: Billy Gunn and D-Von Dudley. All 3 will be able to boast about how they've beaten John 1-on-1 and never gave their heat back.

So while we can all picture Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose as possible milestones for John to take down, I think it's Curtis Axel and Christian who John should be setting his sights on.

I Fresh matchups against Sin Cara, Fandango and Rusev are fine, but they're not going to improve Cena's personal record. Once he beats Axel and Christian, he would have beaten anybody who is anybody in WWE.

Side-note: Although a pinfall/submission victory over Sheamus would also be nice, considering both his wins have been via DQ.
