The matches at WrestleMania 31

WrestleMania 30 was a great show, but it set a dark precedent. There were only 4 straight up matches on the show: Brock/Taker, Cena/Wyatt, Bryan/Orton and the Triple Threat. The rest were big multi-person matches, designed to get a lot of people on the show. They implied heavily that the Andre Battle Royal will be returning next year, quite possibly with even more participants.

So, who do you think will get the privilege of working the straight up matches?

I think there are four safe picks, which are based on the ones we got last year.

1. Brock Lesnar's Match:

He's being hyped up so hard after beating Undertaker, that I think it's almost certain he'll be entering main eventing the show, whether or not he has the WWE title. His most possibly opponents are:

(a) Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan

(b) Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock

(c) Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns

(d) Brock Lesnar vs. Cesaro

(e) Brock Lesnar vs. Batista

2. John Cena's match:

Now, John Cena could very well be the one sparring with Brock Lesnar in the main event. But I think they'll probably save him for his own match. I really doubt they'd put him up against any of the 3 Evolution members again at WrestleMania, but WWE has never shied away from rehashing old material. If he were to rematch with anybody, I'm thinking it would be:

(a) John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan (with the Bellas in each corner)

(b) John Cena vs. Cesaro

(c) John Cena vs. CM Punk

It looks like they've been avoiding Cena/Roman for the past year-and-a-half though, so it John Cena vs. Roman Reigns is also a strong possibility.

3. Batista's Match

With Batista's Hollywood celebrity taking off in the summer, I doubt they'll dump him into a big multi-man match at Mania. I bet he won't stand for it. That means he'll be working some sort of match. I think that of all the possible I mentioned above, Batista will get the leftovers. If Brock faces Roman, Batista faces Bryan. If Brock faces Bryan, Batista faces Roman. Of course, if both Brock and Cena take both of them, that leaves Batista to turn face and go at it with Randy Orton *shrug*.

(a) Batista vs. Roman Reigns

(b) Batista vs. Daniel Bryan

(c) Batista vs. Randy Orton

4. Triple H's Match:

This one is the hardest to pinpoint. I think that if CM Punk comes back, a worked shoot feud with Triple H is the way to go, but then again, that's what pissed CM Punk off in the first place. I'm guessing that Triple H will try and put over someone else at WrestleMania. People say that he's lost his ego, but with such a huge roster nowadays, it's a big deal to just have a singles match on the card. The fact that he'll be taking up a spot where we could have seen Seth vs. Dean instead, is cringe-worthy, in my opinion. But then again, he had a fantastic match with Bryan at Mania, so I won't complain too much. Now, who he can face is anyone's guess, but I doubt it will be Batista, Orton, Cena, Brock or Bryan, as he's already faced them all. That leaves:

(a) Triple H vs. CM Punk

(b) Triple H vs. Roman Reigns

(c) Triple H vs. Cesaro

(d) Triple H vs. Bray Wyatt

(e) Triple H vs. Sami Zayn (dark horse I know, but Bray debuted with a skyrocket up his ass last year, they could easily do that for Sami this year.)

--------------------

I'm leaning towards this card: Brock/Bryan, Cena/Cesaro, Triple H/Roman and Batista/Orton. That's gonna leave tons of people shoved into a bunch of multi-man matches.

Sheamus, Dolph, Del Rio, Seth, Ambrose, Bo, Bray and many others who deserve matches on the card are probably going to be left in the Andre Battle Royal along with quite possibly 40 other participants. If Punk or Rock, or both, come back, that's gonna leave Roman and Cesaro out as well, as I can't see Orton and Batista shoved down the card.

I think The Wyatt Family vs. Evolution would be a great idea if the Wyatts turn face. But I don't know if Batista, Orton and Triple H will be okay with six-man-tagging at WrestleMania. They've been doing it at the lesser PPVs, but I don't know how long that will last.

WWE could surprise us with a 5th singles match, but I think it's unlikely. Cody vs. Goldust, Seth vs. Dean, Rey vs. Sin Cara and plenty others sound like money midcard matches, but the fact that they are midcard matches means they're off the show.

WrestleMania doesn't do midcard anymore.
