WWE Payback: Daniel Bryan Segment

It's not often that an in-ring promo segment is announced for a ppv, but this is an interesting little hook to draw some additional viewers to the show. If Bryan doesn't surrender the title this Sunday, Stephanie McMahon will "fire" Brie Bella.

I don't expect Bryan to surrender the title as it would still play into the notion of Triple H & Stephanie believing it'd make Bryan a "martyr", as Steph said last night and Triple H stated last week during his in-character sit down interview for WWE.com. The natural inclination will be for a man to "protect" his wife, so I'm expecting Brie Bella to come stalking out to the ring just before Bryan is about to hand over the straps, walks up to Stephanie, tells her what she thinks of her, says that she's "quitting" and starts to lay a beat down on Stephanie. As this is going on, Kane's pyro & music hits with him stalking down the ramp and climbing into the ring. Stephanie's screeching for Kane to decimate Brie, prompting Bryan to successfully defend her from Kane, possibly even removing his neck brace to reveal that he's either recovered or is much closer to a recovery than expected. So, the issue remains unresolved for a while longer but Stephanie winds up getting a little taste of what people have wanted to see happen to her for the better part of a year. The segment ends with Bryan & Brie leading an enthusiastic crowd in a bit Yes chant.

I expect something along those lines to go down because it'll just be pretty anti-climactic for Bryan to merely hand over the title. Stephanie winds up so pissed off that, at some point, she might demand that Brie face her in the ring or Brie challenges her and gets her job back if she wins. I suspect there'll still be one more bout against Kane for Daniel Bryan because as much as most prefer to see him move on, possibly at MITB though I'd personally rather see the title defended on Raw with Bryan facing a new opponent for MITB, depending upon if Bryan's recovery is expected to be much sooner than has been reported/speculated upon. I doubt they'll let the issue of Bryan being "injured" by Kane go unresolved.
