Bitdefender and windows 10 and the Internet

I don't know which section to put this in as it kind of crossed three.

My problem is that I (rightly or wrongly) did a force upgrade to Windows 10 (patience and me are not exactly good bedfellows) and I now have a question with regards to connection of the internet.

I use Bitdefender which I have found to be fine and no problems, tis just this morning when I wanted to connect to the internet it wouldn't let me, I know the internet was working as I could connect via my ipod touch, but couldn't connect through PC. There was no 'yellow triangle' so I know there was no issue from the ISP end, so then I looked in at my bitdefender.

I don't know if anyone has experience with this program but my question is this.

Underneath the 'Firewall' settings there are three questions as it were

1) Block internet connection sharing
2) Block port scans in the network
3) Monitor Wifi connections

Now in order for me to get connected on the interent I had to put a 'x' in the first question, as I have not really bothered before (and I have in the main connected), I have not really checked the settings, just allowed the computer to carry on.

Also final question (sorry for the verbal diatribe), but if I have Bitdefender, should windows firewall be on or off?
