mackeeper popups

I have a mac with chrome and I have some problem as every time I click on a link I get a new popup to mackeeper or to advert sites or gambling sites. The machine is really slow and it keeps processing requests admaym.com etc. Has anyone any ideas how to stop this as it makes the internet non-functional. I have tried clearing cookies and resetting settings but it loads them again straight away,
