To Upgrade With or Without Peripherals ?

I got the upgrade confirmation for my laptop yesterday and carried out the upgrade. It went faultlessly and I'm delighted with W10.

I'm still awaiting the upgrade confirmation for my desktop and there have been a number of attempts by Windows update to download the upgrade.
I'm happy to await the 'official' upgrade, rather than install it from media I have already created.
However, I have a question -
My desktop system has numerous USB peripherals attached -
Card Reader
2 external HDDs
2 printers, one A4 and one A3
Scanner.

The printers and scanner, although always connected, are only switched on when required.

So, would it be best to switch off and unplug everything before doing the upgrade, or leave everything as it is ?
Thanks.
