will not start up first time

hi all, I have a acer aspire desk top pc, with amd quad core 2.20ghz processor, 4.00gb ram, 64 bit system, the hd is 193gb free of 232gb on c, and 348gb free of 348gb on d, the pc is about 4/5 years old. it had vista on it when I first got it and when w8 came out I brought the disc from argos then up graded it to w8.1 and all has been well till about 4 weeks ago when things started to go wrong, screen was a bit jerky was not responding well to the mouse, windows updates was not downloading, some times it froze for a few seconds. I brought new mouse, did a clear out, scans, disc check, looked at the logs, still no good so I did my first ever reset, had I bit of trouble but got there in the end, down loaded w8 from disc and up graded to w8.1 and all seemed ok till I started up next day and it would not get past the windows logo and the ring of dots stopped in the end I had to shut it down by the power button but if I use the button a few seconds later all is well, went through all the checks all the logs show is the wrong shut down, when I have finished on the pc I can shut it down the right way, so on Sunday I upgraded to w10 hoping it would cure it but no go I have left it on the logo for about 1 hour but nothing happens have to do the forced shut down then press it again few seconds later and all is well I am using it to do this now I looked at the forums that's how I learnt to do all the checks etc, when it was still w8.1 I tried my recover usb stick ever thing else is ok just that start up and keep doing the forced shut down wont be doing the pc much good. Sorry this is a bit long winded but tried to put ever thing down, (bet I still missed something) hope some body can help, thanks all.
