In case it is any help to anyone struggling with the upgrade I thought my experiences might be of help.
To date I have upgraded 2 pc's and a laptop successfully. in all three cases the normal win upgrade failed this was after getting the message that the download was ready to install.
I downloaded the media creation tool from MS http://ift.tt/1H1bepP and after running it I choose the ISO option to create a DVD to do the upgrade as I felt it would be useful to have 10 on a disc.
I tried to upgrade via this method but it failed so I decided to try the save to a flash drive which also failed to install on any of the pc's.
Lastly I selected the upgrade directly option using the Media creator tool and this worked fine on all 3 machines.
If you are having problems I would suggest downloading and running the media creation tool and selecting the direct upgrade option. :)
