Google Trends To View Popularity

So I got bored and started playing with Google Trends, first I typed in MLB, then NFL, then NBA, then NHL, then WWE and WWE actually held up better than MLB, NHL and at times of the year the other two, which I thought was cool.

Then I decided to compare the indie WWE kings(queen) CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and AJ Lee. Which Punk is far and away the most googled. His spikes are quite interesting though: his first MitB cash in, when he shaved his head, the time around the pipebomb, and of course February of this year. The shocking part, Daniel Bryan never ranks higher than Punk. Even at WrestleMania this year, CM Punk is still googled more than Daniel Bryan.

Now for the Shield members. Roman Reigns is far and away the winner since the Shield break up, Ambrose and Reigns fight for it before the breakup, but since it's been all Reigns every month. Whether that's WWE's booking or just fan interest, either way. Reigns is more looked up.

(If you were wondering why I didn't look up the shield itself, there's a tv show named it too, figured it'd distort the results)

2004 was the starting of the Cena/Orton/Batista era in my eyes. So let's look there too. Cena hit his most googled April 2012, basically after he lost to the Rock and Lesnar returned to fight him. Orton hit his biggest surge when he won the belt at Night Of Champions 2010. Yet when you look, he only beat Cena in searches for 1 month since 2004. And that of course was when Orton became the youngest world champion. Dave Batista beats out Cena around 2005 on the road to wrestlemania and then again fall of 2008. But aside from that it's Cena straight through. But I guess you can argue that the faces always get looked up more right?

Who's the biggest face of the last 10 years? Obviously I have to include John Cena. Daniel Bryan/CM Punk can't even come close in direct comparison. Shawn Michaels does worse than Punk and Triple H does surprisingly well. So I left Triple H on the list. Then the Undertaker holds up really well(better than everyone else so far but Cena). Sting doesn't even come close but that's to be expected being as he's on TNA.

My point on that, Cena is undoubtedly the biggest star in the company. I figure I'll stop by watching the trends of all the wrestling companies. June 2007 was when the WWE was most searched...wondering why? That was the month the Chris Benoit event took place. Interesting enough, 2005 features the lowest search numbers for WWE. But anyway, I put WWE against, TNA, ROH, ECW and John Cena.

Anyway, I know it's not news but John Cena is just head and shoulders above everybody
