Bear with me as I lay out this potential scenario that I don’t think is that far fetched…
• HHH didn’t want to really give Lesnar a title shot but did so because his other two choices Orton and Rollins are otherwise occupied in feuds. Lesnar was his only option to potentially end Cena’s reign.
• Predictions come true, Lesnar beats Cena and becomes champ. Lesnar also wins ppv rematch.
• After Cena is out of picture, HHH tries to tell Lesnar who his next opponent is for the next month’s PPV.
• Lesnar/Heyman whip out the creampuff luxury contract signed by Vince himself outlining the minimum schedule that Lesnar has to keep with the threat of suing if HHH tries to make him wrestle otherwise.
• HHH in an effort to save some face de-unifies the belts with Lesnar keeping the WWE belt and eventually facing Reigns (or Lesnar gets stripped and he and Reigns fight for the WWE title at WreslteMania) while the World belt is put up for grabs amongst Orton, Rollins, Cena, Bryan (if he’s back), etc.
Assumption filled scenario I know. But it doesn’t seem that far out there to me. And I point to the fact that after all these months the unified championship is represented still by two separate belts carried together. Much easier to de-unify while the belts are separate than it would have been had we gotten a brand new world title strap.
